When shipping a Petite Pup, I limit the total transit time according to a Pup's weight, age and temperament. Therefore, my Petite Pups cannot be shipped to all locations. Please be prompt in picking your Pup up from the airport to reduce risk of life-threatening puppy hypoglycemia, see my Links page FAQ for more information on this. When shipping a Pup, you will receive the Petite Pup Flight Pack instead of the Petite Pups Starter Gift Pack. Airlines limit the number of items I am able to ship with your Pup. If you should wish to have a smaller Petite Pup Mailing Pack shipped to you, please order it at the Store page. This will be a small pack containing a pre-scented blanket and pre-played with toys from Momma dog and your Pup's litter-mates, a birth certificate and a treat to ease your Pup's arrival at your home.
Continental Airlines is our preferred choice. They have a great PetSafe program and have been known to take good care of animals in cases of emergencies (unexpected canceled connections, weather delays, etc). The Pup is kept in a pressurized and climate controlled area at all times, are personally handled and can be tracked throughout their travel. Not all flights accept crated animals.
Other airlines do not always have climate controlled areas and therefore only ship animals during certain times of the year. If the temperature should drop below 45 degrees or above 80 degrees, your Pup cannot travel on that flight.
If you're considering flying here to pick up your Pup, Southwest Airlines has some very affordable flights. The fee for bringing your Pup onboard various airlines can be anywhere from $75-$125 one-way. Please check with airlines directly for more information. I will be happy to meet you at the airport if you wish to return immediately. If you are flying in and personally picking up your Pup, you will receive the Petite Pup Starter Gift Pack at no additional charge.
If I will be shipping your Pup to you, I will need the balance due and all related shipping costs paid in full at least 3 days before the
estimated shipping date. Shipping typically costs $300 in addition to the price of a Pup and includes Pup's airline ticket and the Petite Pup Flight Pack. Extra weight charges and airline price increases may affect the shipping charge.
Your Petite Pup's Flight Plan
The Petite Pup Flight Pack includes the airline approved Pet Carrier (that you will keep) with shredded paper for your Pup to play with and piddle on during his/her travel. An attached water dish. A little bag of puppy food attached to the cage. The airline pet crew will feed the Pup only if unexpected delays occur. An original Veterinarian Travel/Health Certificate will be attached to the Pet Carrier. These certificates are only good for 10 days. If another is needed, there will be an additional trip to the vet and an additional charge to you.
The airlines do not allow any other items to be shipped with a pet at this time. If you have any questions about shipping or flying in, please contact me. DO NOT send a deposit on a Pup until we've made sure shipping arrangements can be made to your destination. We cannot meet you at the airport on every day of the week. If we need to meet you, please contact me and we can coordinate your flight arrival with our schedules.
Please check your calendar and be sure you will be available to pick up your Pup from your airport when it is 8 or 9 weeks old. When I have the Health certificate for your Pup, I will make the flight reservation and email you the details. You must bring your ID and confirmation # to the airport and sign for your Pup. Depending on each airport, you may have to pick up your Pup at the cargo office, ticket counter, etc. Call your airport airlines to find out where you need to pick up your Petite Pup.
What to bring to the airport: Fresh newspaper for the
crate, baby wipes for cleaning up your Pup and the crate. A towel for your lap and fresh water. Most importantly, buy a tube of Nutri-Cal at your local pet store. This will help prevent life-threatening puppy Hypoglycemia, see my Links page FAQ for more information on puppy hypoglycemia. As soon as you get your Pup, give him/her a bit of Nutri-Cal. If you forget, a little bit of Karo Syrup or sugar water on the roof of the Pup's mouth will work in a pinch, it's just not as healthy as the Nutri-Cal supplement. This supplement is good to give your Pup every day for the first few days while your Pup adjusts to its new home. Also, give your Pup a teaspoonful of plain yogurt (not diet yogurt) every day to help with digestion and prevent illness for the first few weeks.
If our arrangement is for you to pick up your Pup at my place, do not change to shipping at the last minute. If you are planning on flying with your Pup, I need to know this and get the Vet Health certificate in advance for you. In conclusion, please alert me as soon as possible if your Petite Pup will be flying. No last minute shipping changes. No exceptions, no shipping refunds.
